College of Engineering and Technology
AdU CET: A Brief Recap
College of Engineering and Technology (CET) is the largest college in our University in line with government policy since the commencement of the university that year started has had 404 students within four departments Electrical and computer engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, and mechanical engineering. This academic year (2012) the College of Engineering and Technology currently offers 10 bachelor programs, namely, Architecture, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Construction Technology and Management, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering, software engineering, and urban planning and design departments. In addition to these, we have four postgraduate programs such as computer science, information technology, environmental engineering, and material science & engineering. With more than 2500 undergraduate regular (excluding the first year proposed 2000) students, 696 summer and 158 extension students, and about 30 postgraduate students. To accomplish those teaching and learning processes, we have more than 500 dedicated local academic staff (12 of them are terminal degree candidates and 3 PhD holders)
Additionally, in the coming academic year, we will have four newly opened Bachelor such as :
Industrial engineering, hydraulic engineering, Information systems, and surveying technology, and three new postgraduate programs such as power engineering, computer engineering, and manufacturing engineering are going on their need of assessment for establishment.
The air condition of Adigrat is naturally a perfect environment for learning and living in it. In addition, our proximity to different industries is a great opportunity for our students for their knowledge strengthening. Our students are preferentially recruited by these industries, and many will enjoy internships and short-term educational visits with them as part of their educational experience. We also continue to expand programs to address global needs in different engineering disciplines.
Mission
Our mission is to improve the quality of life through excellence in education and research. To achieve this, we will serve all who have an interest in our success and be the vanguard in the creation and improvement of the nation’s essential systems and technologies. By emphasizing the fundamentals of maths, science, and engineering, we will foster lifelong learning, leadership, and productive careers.
Vision
The Vision of the College of Engineering and Technology is: “To be recognized as a national leader in engineering and technology education, research, and the application of knowledge to benefit our society in the next 20 years.”
Motto
Life-long engineering and technology knowledge for societal change!
