Registrar’s Office

The Registrar’s Office at Adigrat University plays a vital role in the academic and administrative life of the institution. It serves as the central unit that manages all matters related to student admission, registration, academic records, and graduation – ensuring smooth and transparent academic processes across all programs and delivery modes.

Core Responsibilities

The Office of the Registrar is responsible for:

  • Managing student admission, placement, enrollment, registration, and academic record keeping for all programs.
  • Preparing and issuing the academic calendar, University catalogue, admission prospectus, and student handbooks in consultation with the respective colleges and academic leadership.
  • Recording, monitoring, and maintaining accurate and confidential student data, including admissions, performance, attrition, and graduation.
  • Preparing the list of graduates recommended by colleges and institutes and presenting it to the Senate for approval.
  • Administering and issuing transcripts, degrees, diplomas, and certificates while ensuring the custody of the University’s common seal.
  • Conducting orientation programs for new students and supporting their academic adjustment.
  • Overseeing students’ academic status, including remedial, withdrawal, dismissal, and alumni tracking.
  • Ensuring full compliance with University legislation, Senate directives, and national education laws related to student admission, curriculum implementation, and graduation requirements.
  • Managing the effective use of classrooms, lecture halls, and laboratories for teaching and examination purposes.
  • Consulting with the Ministry of Education on intake capacity, admissions, and University-wide criteria.
  • Planning and implementing student support activities, including academic and guidance services.
  • Overseeing student disciplinary issues in collaboration with concerned academic units.

Leadership and Administration

The Registrar Director leads and administers the Office, managing its human, financial, and physical resources efficiently. The Director ensures that all functions of the Office are implemented effectively in line with the University’s mission, policies, and strategic priorities.
