College of Natural and Computational Sciences

Overview

The College of Natural and Computational Sciences (CNCS) of Adigrat University was established in November 2011 as one of the four pioneer colleges in the University with a primary goal of contributing to the sustainable socioeconomic development and poverty reduction program of the nation through the provision of societal needs-tailored education of professionals, undertaking problem-solving research, and providing community services.

In its inaugural year, the college offered only four undergraduate fields of study: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Currently, the college has reached eight departments, all with undergraduate programs, and four departments with postgraduate (regular and summer) programs.

Besides this, the college also gives special focus to developing its staff profile by granting scholarships to both domestic and international universities to ensure the overall delivery of educational standards by achieving the desired level of competency in knowledge, skill, and attitude. The college has established educational standards and quality assurance, research and community service, science, technology, education, and mathematics (STEM) Education and laboratory coordination offices that organize and monitor academic programs, quality standards, and research and community service and laboratory facilities in consultation with the college.

In general, the college is composed of young, committed, and energetic academic staff members with desired fields of specialization, and it is working to create a conducive environment for academics, research, and community service activities, as well as striving to establish standard teaching and research laboratories.

The College of Natural and Computational Sciences strives to be a center of excellence in producing competent and high-level professionals who play critical roles in the research, industry, and education sectors.

Mission

To produce skilled and competent manpower, undertake result-oriented research, and offer effective community services.
