European Union Delegates have Visited Adigrat university
European union delegates have visited Adigrat university. The purpose of the visit was to discuss on the peace reconciliation of Ethio- Eritrean people, and the social transformations which can be undertaken around the border of Ethio- Eritrea by European union in collaboration with Adigrat university. The delegates were very interested that Adigrat university had established a center for cross border community and peace studies.
Mr. Gebregioworgis Teklay, head of the center has presented why the center established, and its major objectives. He has emphasized also on the basic supports the center needs from international partners like EU.The activities which were, so far, conducted by the center since its establishment were also part of his presentation.
The discussion was also on what can be done together specially on the economic aspect, and natural resource management. Imma Guixe, project manager of migration in the European union said that the center is very relevant and strategic, and it can play key role to find solutions to the existing problems around the border. She also said that her organization was working in different borders of African countries. The EU now wants to work on the Ethio- Eritrean people to people reconciliation due to the current development in between the two governments. Thus, the center which is established by Adigrat university would be very important to EU. Researchers from department of economics, and college of agriculture were also part of the discussion.
